L'alquerque, detallat en les seves p\u00e0gines, \u00e9s l'evoluci\u00f3 europea d'un antic joc d'estrat\u00e8gia conegut en el m\u00f3n \u00e0rab com a \u201cEl-Qirkat\u201d, amb arrels que es remunten a l'antic Egipte. A l'Espanya del segle XIII, l'alquerque va ser un testimoni de com els erudits cristians, musulmans i jueus col\u00b7laboraven per a enlla\u00e7ar el coneixement de l'Orient amb l'Occident.<\/p><p><b>El cam\u00ed cap a les dames<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span>Jugat amb 12 peces cadasc\u00fa en un tauler de 5\u00d75, l'Alquerque \u00e9s el bressol de la mec\u00e0nica de captura saltada, que \u00e9s la regla fonamental de les dames modernes. A finals del segle XV, quan aquestes regles din\u00e0miques es van traslladar al tauler d'escacs de 8\u00d78, va n\u00e9ixer el joc de \u201cDraughts\u201d (dames) tal com el coneixem avui.
