Elle est notamment d\u00e9crite dans le Kitab ash-Shatranj, le premier trait\u00e9 syst\u00e9matique sur la strat\u00e9gie des \u00e9checs. Le fait que l'un des auteurs du Kitab ash-Shatranj soit Al-Adli Ar-Rumi, connu comme le premier champion du monde d'\u00e9checs, n'est peut-\u00eatre pas une simple co\u00efncidence. Rumi repr\u00e9sente l'Empire romain et vient des terres romaines.
