La l\u00e9gende raconte qu'il a \u00e9t\u00e9 offert au roi Philippe II par Philonicus le Thessalien pour la somme faramineuse de 13 talents, mais personne n'a pu dompter son esprit sauvage. Le jeune Alexandre, constatant que le cheval \u00e9tait simplement effray\u00e9 par son ombre, le tourna vers le soleil pour le calmer. Voyant cela, le roi Philippe d\u00e9clara : \u201c\u00d4 mon fils, regarde-toi faire\u201d : \"\u00d4 mon fils, cherche-toi un royaume \u00e9gal et digne de toi-m\u00eame, car la Mac\u00e9doine est trop petite pour toi !\".\u201d<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Des champs de bataille \u00e0 l'immortalit\u00e9<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Buc\u00e9phale a accompagn\u00e9 Alexandre tout au long de sa campagne, de la Gr\u00e8ce jusqu'au c\u0153ur de l'Inde. Il a accompagn\u00e9 son ma\u00eetre dans les affrontements les plus sanglants, de Granicus et Issus \u00e0 Gaugamela et \u00e0 la bataille de l'Hydaspe. En 326 avant J.-C., au cours de la campagne indienne, il d\u00e9c\u00e8de des suites de ses blessures ou de sa vieillesse (\u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 30 ans). En son honneur, Alexandre a fond\u00e9 la ville d'Alexandrie-Buc\u00e9phale sur les rives de la rivi\u00e8re Jhelum, dans l'actuel Pakistan.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>H\u00e9ritage culturel<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Dans l'histoire de l'art et de la litt\u00e9rature, Buc\u00e9phale est un symbole de puissance, de loyaut\u00e9 et d'instinct. Dans les traditions orientales, o\u00f9 Alexandre est souvent identifi\u00e9 comme \u201cIskandar\u201d, Buc\u00e9phale est d\u00e9peint comme un compagnon loyal dot\u00e9 de qualit\u00e9s surnaturelles.
