Dese\u00f1ado polo pintor e escultor montenegrino Petar Po\u010dek, o conxunto ti\u00f1a como obxectivo reunificar o mundo a trav\u00e9s do poder unificador do xogo tras a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Con este obxectivo en mente, elimin\u00e1ronse intencionadamente todos os s\u00edmbolos relixiosos: a tradicional cruz na parte superior do Rei substitu\u00eduse por unha simple esfera, e eliminouse a muesca no Bispo que simbolizaba a mitra dun cl\u00e9rigo.<\/p><p>Este dese\u00f1o \u201csecular\u201d e inclusivo transformou o xadrez dun s\u00edmbolo de crenzas espec\u00edficas nunha obra de arte universal.
