Projetado pelo pintor e escultor montenegrino Petar Po\u010dek, o conjunto tinha como objetivo reunir o mundo por meio do poder unificador do jogo ap\u00f3s a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Com esse objetivo em mente, todos os s\u00edmbolos religiosos foram intencionalmente removidos: a tradicional cruz no topo do Rei foi substitu\u00edda por uma simples esfera, e o entalhe no Bispo, que simbolizava a mitra de um cl\u00e9rigo, foi eliminado.<\/p><p>Esse design \u201csecular\u201d e inclusivo transformou o xadrez de um s\u00edmbolo de cren\u00e7as espec\u00edficas em uma obra de arte universal. Essas pe\u00e7as representam uma era em que o xadrez se enraizou como uma verdadeira cultura popular encontrada em todas as casas, escolas e parques p\u00fablicos.
